About Jerry & Nick

A Love Story 45 Years in the Making

Jerry Irwin Christman and Nick Theodore Gjovik each arrived in New York City in the 1970s — two young men from the Midwest, drawn to the energy and possibilities of the city. One came from Wisconsin, the other from Ohio. They became fast friends, sharing dreams, adventures, and the ups and downs of life in the city they both loved.

Over time, life took them in different directions. Nick moved west to California to be near family, while Jerry built a vibrant life and career in New York. But through it all, their friendship never wavered. They spoke often, bridging the miles with laughter, support, and an unwavering connection.

Then, in October 2023, everything changed. After nearly a decade apart, Jerry visited Nick in Laguna Beach. Nick looked at him and said with joyful recognition, “Oh! It’s YOU.” Jerry smiled and replied, “Yes, Darling.” Within months, Nick had returned to New York, and together they began the next chapter of their story — side by side.

On Sunday, October 13, 2024, surrounded by friends and family, Jerry and Nick were married in the city that brought them together. Their wedding was filled with love, music, and deep gratitude. It featured performances by Broadway artists, members of the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus (where Jerry sang for over 20 years), and heartfelt contributions from their wedding party — including godchildren, nieces, and nephews from both coasts.

This website is a celebration of that weekend — of their love, their community, and the decades of friendship that brought them to this moment. Here, you’ll find photos and videos from their wedding day, as well as snapshots from the open house they hosted the next morning.

Thank you for being part of their story.

If you took photos or videos at the wedding, reception, or open house, Jerry & Nick would be thrilled to see them and feature them here on the site! Reach out for a link to upload them — or drop them a note using the website Contact form.
